Better late than never!

This is an update for my friends and family who are curious as to what I am up to! I don't find myself too exciting...but I am happy to share my adventures with you all! I have begun my journey as a travel physical therapist with my first stop in Seattle.

The voyage here was long and arduous in our two car caravan (I am travelling with a buddy, my friend Sarah from PT school) but our salvation was the walkie talkie communication devices we brought along with us! This became increasingly important on our 1,850 mile journy, as neither of us could really see out of our rearview mirrors or check our blind spots! Its a slight miracle we made it here alive!

We drove first to Denver and spent a couple days at my sister's and had tons of fun, as always! Then we drove the entire way from Denver up through Wyoming to Bozeman, Montana and stayed the night. The next day had us driving across Idaho (just the skinny part) to stay the night in Spokane, Washington. That left a relatively short drive to Marysville, Washington (the town where Sarah's dad lives just north of Seattle and where we stayed until we figured out where we were going to live!)

Our first week in Seattle was filled with tourist attractions and driving all around scouting out neighborhoods and housing options. It was a good introduction to the city and we had the most amazing weather possible.
We finally decided on a townhouse in West Seattle, which is just south and (if you can believe it) west of the main downtown. It is a perfect little get away from the more busy downtown, and since we both work in towns south of Seattle, it is perfect for avoiding crazy traffic to and from work. My favorite feature is that it is close to Alki beach which has a bunch of cute little shops and restaurants as well as a the perfect running path right along the water with a view of the Olympic mountains and the best view ever of the Seattle skyline.

So... we were moved in the same day we decided we wanted the townhouse and started work about 3 days later. We are both working for Apple Physical Therapy; Sarah is in the Federal Way clinic and I am working in Kent. They are outpatient physical therapy clinics and we have both enjoyed working for them. Their website is http://www.applept.com/ if you are really interested in seeing where I work :-) One of the best things is we work four ten-hour days per week, which leaves an extra day to go exploring!
We got really lucky in that the first weekend we were in Seattle the company we contract through (Supplemental Health Care) had a company mixer through the local office and we were invited to attend. We happened to meet 2 other travel PT's - both from Kansas City who had graduated the year before us from KU. We decided to be automatic friends, so you will see Debbie and Ryan featured in future entries! Through them and work and meeting new people, we have made a group of friends here, and are even throwing a Christmas party soon!
We have settled into a normal routine here and are trying to take full advantage of all Seattle has to offer (which is A LOT) while we are here! We have been going to restaurants, theatre, concerts, bars, hiking, museums, and soon to come snowboarding! All these details will follow as I promise to continue blogging..... can't promise that it will be as regularly as I'd like, but this is a start!
